Research Themes: The Communicating Mind and Body
Walter Sena is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Woodward's Lab at the University of British Columbia, who appreciates the potential of language as a tool to explore mental and cognitive health. The use of language in psychiatry is essentially the only tool available to access human thought. His goal is to engage in research that utilizes content analysis of speech to help identify cognitive decline in elderly populations and thought disorders in vulnerable patients. Sena is also interested in the potential of analyzing voice biomarkers, syntax, and semantics to gain insights into mood states and neurodevelopmental milestones.
At UBC's Language Sciences Institute, he looks forward to learning from the interdisciplinary community and contributing to our collective understanding in these areas.
